RE: 3 Weeks Later

Well, I found out on Friday that the company I was hoping to work for either “put it on hold” or “proceeded with an internal candidate”. I don’t know what exactly that means, but the recruiter asked if I’d be interested in a marketing position and I, of course, said yes.

We’ll see if that position ever ends up existing, but for 2/3 roles I interviewed for in May, the recruiters both wanted to help me into other roles.

Oddly, the position I was certain I did not get — which was only one team interview two weeks ago on Thursday — has not made a decision yet. In fact, they don’t even know if they have the budget for the role.

The takeaway here is to never get attached. I am still “ok” for another 2-3 months. After that, I will need to broaden my searching and take a job that will maybe pay $20/hr. I can’t do that right now, because a full time, lower wage job, would limit my searching, applying, and interviewing ability.

I’m hanging in there. I have a call with a recruiter in ten minutes for a role I’m 70% qualified for. I had a friend’s brother’s father-in-law offer to review and pass my resume along at a company he works for. It turns out we do the same thing and he may be able to help me out.

It’s back to a numbers game. Fire out as many as I can.
